Lover At Last (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #11)Lover At Last by J.R. Ward

My rating: 4.5 of 5 stars

I wouldn’t quite give this book 5 stars, however I really enjoyed it. J. R. Ward never fails to entertain with her awesome Black Dagger Brotherhood series. I think the BDB series is considered paranormal romance, but it’s certainly not a light and fluffy type of romance. These books are hard core (and definitely not YA for anyone who thinks I only read YA!)

Qhuinn and Blay are the main focus in Lover At Last, and I personally think it’s great to see a non-heterosexual couple in the spotlight of a bestselling series. As Ward said in the story, love is universal.

For some reason I had trouble keeping track between Xcor, Assail, and Trez, which could just be me, but perhaps there was one side-story too many. Also, I get that it wouldn’t make sense for Qhuinn and Blay to get together and live happily ever after right off the bat, but I felt like their failure to figure things out went on about 200 pages too long.

Overall, I was absolutely entertained and it’s safe to say I’ll be rushing out to read every BDB book that is ever released in the future!
