Lisa, don't give up! I love reading your blog, and I think you're talented and fun and entertaining to read. So I'm sure any book you get out there will be a hit. I've been doing a creative project too: making a quilt. I learned that there are many, many steps to this too....like: choosing the fabrics, cutting out the shapes; arranging shapes on other pieces of fabric, setting colors next to one another......etc. not to even mention the sewing yet!

So, my advice to anyone doing a creative project, such as your writing is, is to try to take each step as a 'chunk'? (not a good word....block? nah, maybe 'step' will have to do....and some steps will definitely be more fun than others. I try to see through each one, giving it its 'step' name....like: fun step #1: poopy step #2....etc....just to amuse myself and get through it.

your Dad taught me this. We used to love to take you kids x-c skiing, but I really detested the "getting ready" part (finding all the skis, waxes, poles, gloves, mitts etc...); then fixing lunches and drinks....
Well I complained once to him saying: "I don't know if it's worth it to go through all this preparation just for a few hours of fun"...and his response was that I should just consider ALL of it as part of the fun. I did, and from that day onward, I find I can do it with any project.

Just fold it all in. G'luck! (and have fun!)

If you need another reader - I'd be delighted. I also recommend reading any vampire books set in the Vampire-The Masquerade setting. Very dark and gritty.

I think all authors go through that - you end up having to hash over your own work endlessly. I'm personally hoping that one day, that starts to either feel less painful, or be required less and less as I learn what the heck I'm doing.
